Since the last time I checked in I have written a lot of code and completed a lot of training! I completed the “The Web Developer Bootcamp”. I have also since started the “NodeJS course ” & finished it as well. Both courses taught me a lot of techniques. During those courses I have also been working on my side projects && learned ES6, which I love (As you can see I’ve been coding so much I some times use programming syntax in regular writing)! As of a few minutes ago (5:31 AM, Fri. Sept. 1) I completed 99.99% of the Pomodoro timer (you canRead More →

During one of the Udemy sales several months back. I purchased a few courses. One of them was “The Web Developer Bootcamp” and another one was “The complete Node.js Developer Course(2nd edition)”, just to name a couple. These along with a few others changed the game for me. I always thought that the front end was where I wanted to be. I had plans on going full stack way later down the road. I had no intention at all to work on the backend this soon. I started with “The Web Developer Bootcamp” taught by Colt Steele. I immediately skipped to the JavaScript portion asRead More →

Over the past few weeks I have been debating on whether or not I should put the current project I am working on up on Github or not. I debated with the fact of should I wait until the project is somewhat “finished” or just go ahead and upload it now, while building it. I am still struggling with trying to decide how I want to handle it with future projects. However, I did go ahead and upload it to Github which was an adventure. (I would love feedback thru the comments from any one who reads this on if you push on init orRead More →

The further I get along in my project the greater my love and passion grows for web development. Over the past few days. I have been busy working on my current project. So far it has been a blast! The more I learn the more I love web development. Though there have been a few hiccups of course due to user error. I learned a hard lesson in JavaScript scope. I was working on my email input validation. I was able to get the first block of my if statement to work. However, if the form failed validation with the RegExp, I was getting anRead More →

Update on Project #1 Over the past few days, I have been working on the structure of my first project for my portfolio. I am far enough within the project where I feel comfortable enough to share it with you, so you can see what I have been working on! Before we get to that I would like to go over what the process has been like for me so far. For starters, I worked my way from the top down. Everything went rather smoothly until I got to the form field which is where I am now (as you can tell). I am notRead More →

The project I am working on is a travel website. The company is a small family owned business that does not currently have a site. The goals of the site are to show the available tours customers can sign up for & get them to call for more information. After planning the features and designing the site I began to code the basic structure in HTML. Going in, I figured I would make it easier for myself by writing the larger parts of the code that is repetitive using JavaScript. Needless to say I was wrong about that. Let me give you a little historyRead More →

My first fully solo project without any tutorials or code alongs.  The process and/or work flow I followed has been a little bumpy so far. I have to establish a routine and workflow for how I will continue to work from here on process. I figured I should begin to figure out what works and what doesn’t along the way. Even if this is my first project for front end web development that includes user interaction with the site. I would like to share my processes so far and the tools, resources, & workflow that I use. Tools:  I have been using Atom (my textRead More →

My goal for this blog is to share my learning experiences as I work through learning JavaScript and becoming a better web developer with the ultimate-goal of freelancing and/or find a job in Front End Development. I hope, that by sharing my experiences it can help at least one person who is beginning their journey or even already on it!  I have been learning JavaScript off and on for the past few months. Now I have the time to finally focus on this full time outside of my job. I am already proficient in HTML & CSS but as always I could learn more! IRead More →
